Model description
Women's double-sided quilted vest of a straight silhouette, free volume, length above the hip line. The solid-cut front and back form a single piece of fabric without side seams. The lining of the vest from the main fabric or the companion fabric is quilted together with the main detail. The V-neck, hem, bottom and armholes of the vest are edged with bias tape from the main fabric or companion fabric. Two long ties sewn to the sides are tied in a bow.
Recommended materials
For this vest, it is recommended to choose light cotton fabrics of medium density, which forms a stable shape when draped: shirt cotton, poplin, calico, cotton satin, thin shirt denim.
Not recommended to choose too plastic and soft materials (staple, silk, viscose), translucent (batiste), elastic fabrics and knitwear.
In addition, you will need rolled synthetic insulation with a density of 100 g/m2 with a calendered surface. For example: Hollowsoft (ua), Thinsulate, Isosoft. You can also use non-calendered heat sinks: Termoloft (ua), holofiber, silicone, syntepon, etc. In this case, at the stage of connecting the layers of quilting materials, one layer of thin (15-20 g/m2) spunbond should be added between the insulation and the top fabric and between the insulation and the lining. It will prevent the migration of insulation fibers through the fabric of the top or lining to the outside. Pay special attention to this tip if your fabric is a dark color.
Fabric consumption
With a roll width of 150 cm, you will need 1 m of main fabric, 1 m of lining fabric, 1 m of insulation. A piece of fabric 100×50 cm will be needed for the ties and the bias tape. The length of the finished tape should be 5 m. You need one spool of sewing thread in the color of each of the fabrics. For quilting, it is advisable to use a thin microtex needle or a universal #60/#70 needle.
